Smut Slam Baltimore: Go F* Yourself

Shocked at our rudeness? Hey, we just want you to give yourself the finger...or the vibe...or the pleasure of your choice! May is National Masturbation Month, so in this increasingly sex-hostile culture, let's bring the Slamily together to be aggressively horny together! (And many thanks to the April audience member who suggested the theme.)

Our theme for May is "Go F* Yourself", defiantly claiming our right to pleasure, lust, and self-expression. Maybe you'll tell us about the vibrator that finally showed you what's the big deal about the big O. Will you delight us with stories of mutual self-pleasure with your sweetie(s)? Or perhaps you'll get creative with the theme and tell us about your lustful journey to avenge your broken heart, or the sexplorations that flipped off everyone who has ever tried to silence you. Get ready for the cheers and love that await you when you inspire our rallying cry, "Your life is awesome!"

(Not familiar with Smut Slam? It’s a storytelling open mic where audience members sign up for 5-minute slots to tell their best real-life, first-person, consensual sex stories. It’s queer-friendly, kink-friendly, lifestyle-friendly, body-positive, sex-positive, and wildly fun. No costumes, no notes, no gimmicks, just straight-up raw truth! Your fabulous femme-cee is longtime Smut Slam Baltimore/DC producer and burlesque performer Diva Darling, joined by a panel of local celebrity judges who keep that middle fingernail trimmed, because manners.

Join us before the show to enjoy light pub fare and sample the decadent cocktail and mocktail menu. Get your copy of Anonymous Sex, the Smut Slam International book edited and signed by Diva.

Tickets: $15 early bird, $20 presale, $25 door

Baltimore Folk Club Presents: The Wilder Flower

Doors at 6:00, concert at 7:00 PM

About The Wilder Flower

The Wilder Flower, featuring Danielle Yother on guitar, Molly Johnson on banjo, and Madeline Dierauf on fiddle, encompasses a fresh take on rural Appalachian music. Together they blend modern influences with their deep roots of old time & bluegrass. Their songs are filled with three-part harmonies, tight instrumental blends, and storytelling.

Their relatable humor engages audiences in a personable way, bringing a meaningful, shared experience to each show and their original songs are thoughtfully arranged yet full of spur of the moment improvisation, adapted to showcase their tasteful instrumental sensibilities. They flex between genres and writers in each song, but there is something to their collective taste that speaks the same language, though switching dialects.

Since the group began in 2021, The Wilder Flower has been touring its home states of North and South Carolina as well as festivals across the country. They released their debut album If I Wait Anymore in September of 2024.

DR. SKETCHY'S BALTIMORE WITH KALYPSO KRAKEN

A livelier life drawing event, Dr. Sketchy’s is where artists of all levels draw fabulous burlesque and variety performers. Enjoy delicious cocktails and compete in zany drawing contests to win free drinks and other awesome prizes! We’ll start off with quick 1- and 2-minute gesture poses and gradually move up to 20-minute sketches. No drawing experience is necessary; just bring your own drawing materials—plus generous cash tips for our model—and join us for some fun figure sketching practice!

The fabulously multi-talented Kalypso Kraken will be modeling in some fantastically marine-themed looks for this fun MerMay night of drinks and drawing! Here's more about our May muse:

"Kalypso Kraken, The Sea Monster of Your Wettest Dreams. She’s not just a burlesque leviathan, but an award-winning belly dancer as well as the co-producer of 'Art of the Belly' belly dance festival. Kalypso first dipped her tentacles into striptease as a student at Baltimore’s Essential Tease burlesque queeniversity in April 2023. Since her debut performance as a whip-cracking Marge Simpson, she’s unleashed her particular brand of mythical glam and magic around Charm City and beyond. When not sinking ships and breaking hearts, she is a belly dance instructor and performer, licensed make-up artist, a figure art model, and certified group fitness instructor. Fun fact: Kalypso is associated with the Kraken due to her love of cephalopods."

Come early to get the best seats and a drink—and even a delicious dinner—then stay after we wrap up to share your work with fellow artists over one last drink at the bar.

Doors at 6:00 pm, drawing from 7-10 pm. 18+ to draw, 21+ to drink. $15 in advance, $18 at the door, plus service fees for online and in-person credit card transactions. BYO drawing supplies. No photography, messy paints, or dip pens, please (watercolors are fine). Space is limited, so compact drawing setups with sketchbooks no larger than 12"x18" are strongly recommended.
