Smut Slam Baltimore: Hot Frosty

Play sexy games, win sexy prizes at this inclusive real-life storytelling open mic-- a perfect date night at a swanky cocktail lounge!

The weather outside is frightful, but inside we're sooooo delightful! The temperatures aren't the only ones going down when we all put the longest nights to their best use. Santa Daddy's coming with a sack of toys fit for all the good little pervs, and Krampus got dat tongue and whip ready to give the naughty list their lashings. Come raise a spicy cup of cheer with the Slamily at our hedonistic hearth for the most bedtime of stories!

This month, we're closing out another smutty year with the theme of "Hot Frosty". You might not have sculpted the caked-up snowman joyfriend of your dreams (yet...) but talk to us about the booty call babe who blows back into town every winter. What happened with your smokin' work crush at that office holiday party of excess? Regale us with tales of getting your halls decked or donning your gayest apparel. What did your angel look like when you got frisky in the snow?

(Not familiar with Smut Slam? It’s a storytelling open mic where audience members sign up for 5-minute slots to tell their best real-life, first-person, consensual sex stories. It’s queer-friendly, kink-friendly, lifestyle-friendly, body-positive, sex-positive, and wildly fun. No costumes, no notes, no gimmicks, just straight-up raw truth! See the full rules and how it works on our Rules of the Road page. Don't have a story that's on theme? That's okay-- the theme is just a suggestion!)

As always, we have the Fuckbucket where audience members can throw in anonymous confessions or questions to enter the free raffle for a smutty prize courtesy of our sponsor, Uberlube. All storytellers will get a little swag bag to reward their courage, and we've got some fabulous storytelling prize packs on tap for our top three tellers, too—you could win a sexy little something to keep the party going at home!

Your fabulous femme-cee is longtime Smut Slam Baltimore/DC producer and burlesque performer Diva Darling, joined by a panel of local celebrity judges who might just let you sit on their laps and tell them what you most desire.

Join us before the show to enjoy light pub fare and sample the decadent cocktail and mocktail menu. Get your copy of Anonymous Sex, the Smut Slam International book edited and signed by Diva.

This event has been selling out in presales, so door tickets may or may not be available. However, should they be available, they are $25 payable in cash, PayPal, Venmo, or CashApp. If the show is sold out but you want to take a chance on waiting, the Bluebird has two other bar rooms where you can enjoy food and drinks. We recommend arriving close to 7, asking the door person to take your name for the wait list, and coming back at about 7:50 to see if we've had no-shows or last-minute cancellations and can sell you a ticket. Usually we can, but buying in advance is better-- you can get a refund up to the day before the show if you can't make it.

Baltimore Folk Club Presents: Joseph Decosimo with Cleek Schrey

Doors 6:30pm / Show 7:30pm

About Joseph Decosimo & Cleek Schrey:

Fiddler, banjoist, and singer Joseph Decosimo has introduced audiences around the world to the beauty and vitality of traditional music from the Appalachian South. Decosimo draws on years of study with older traditional players and collaboration with his contemporaries to create music that NPR All Songs Considered describes as “classic and current at the same time” and “pushing the sonic boundaries of old-time music ... gorgeous.” Fiery Gizzard, his 2025 Dear Life Records solo debut, reveals him as a powerful champion of traditional music – a sponge who soaks up as much as he squeezes out, a responsive artist who makes his genre accessible, and a magnet who can bring musicians of all sorts into his orbit with his same passion. He’s contributed to recordings by fellow Durham, NC projects Hiss Golden Messenger, Wye Oak, and Jake Xerxes Fussell, who compares Decosimo to “an astute jazz artist, with his perspective substantiated by a fundamental sense of melodic direction and delicate purpose.” Irish fiddle luminary Martin Hayes describes Decosimo’s trio recording Beehive Cathedral (Dear Life Records, 2024) as “grounded, subtle and refined.” He’s long been a key player in the US Old-time scene, winning a National Old-time banjo championship and a blue ribbon in the prestigious Clifftop fiddle contest. He has also led the prize-winning Old-time band the Bucking Mules (Free Dirt Records, 2017).

Cleek Schrey (b.1984, Bath Co., Va.) is a fiddler, composer, and improviser. He plays traditional music from Appalachia and Ireland as well as experimental music with a wide range of musicians. Schrey performs on the fiddle, the hardanger d’amore, a violin with sympathetic strings, and the daxophone, a wooden idiophone designed by Hans Reichel. His practice is preoccupied with the physical phenomena of vibrating strings and the histories and aesthetics of recording technologies. Collaborators include electronic music pioneer David Behrman, the viol da gamba player Liam Byrne, traditional fiddle icon Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, and the late Fluxus artist Yasunao Tone. He has performed at the Big Ears Festival, Knoxville, Tenn.; Kilkenny Arts Festival, Kilkenny; SuperSense Festival of the Ecstatic, Melbourne; Issue Project Room, New York, N.Y.; Roulette, New York, N.Y. (in a program curated by Meredith Monk); and the Beckett in London Festival with Gare St. Lazare, London, among others. Recent releases include The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion (Pagans, 2024), a recording of shape-note melodies transcribed for organs with Weston Olencki, and Beehive Cathedral (Dear Life Records, 2024), an album of traditional southern music with Joseph Decosimo and Luke Richardson.

Irish Music Night with old style step dancer Catherine Marafino Brice

The Baltimore Irish Music School is hosting a session and performance with old style step dancer Catherine Marafino Brice! Come join us for a youth session from 6-7:00, performance from 7:00-8:00 with Catherine and musicians Sarah Collins and Richard Osban, and a guided ceili (Irish Social Dance) from 8-10! Ceili dances are group dances, and steps will be taught and called. Musicians present with their instruments are also welcome to play with the band.

No cover, but a donation will be taken for the band.

About the Artist:

Catherine is an Irish step dancer living in Annapolis, MD. She specializes in sean nós dance, old-style Irish step dancing, and has studied American tap dance and flatfooting. Fusing these influences together, she has created her own style of improvised percussive dance that is lively and unique.

Catherine began Irish step dancing and tap dancing as a child, and as a teenager learned from Emily Oleson and Matthew Olwell of Good Foot Dance Company. During college, she built a small repertoire of American flat-footing and clogging steps, and learned a handful of Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island patterns from Helen Bergeron. She also learned many of Dan Furey's set dances from Michael Tubridy. Catherine has a long love-affair with traditional steps, but she is most impressive for her ability to improvise them. Among dancers in Washington and Baltimore, she is highly regarded for her aptness to devise new dances that are musically and choreographically entertaining.

Catherine enjoys ceili dancing and has started calling dances in the Annapolis, Baltimore, and DC region. She founded the Annapolis Ceili Club in 2023, which is a club for people to learn basic ceili dances and popular set dances in a fun and stress-free environment.

Catherine holds an MSN from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and works as a NICU nurse in Annapolis and Baltimore. She is the owner and director of Annapolis Percussive Dance, LLC. She teaches dance in Annapolis and Baltimore with the Baltimore Irish Music School.

Ken & Brad Kolodner lead the Baltimore Old Time Jam from every other Tuesday night 7-10pm. The first hour of the jam will be a "slow jam" so anyone can hop in and play along at a moderate tempo. From 8-10pm, they'll kick up the tempo for the "fast jam." Imagine a sea of fiddles, banjos, guitars and more all swelling together in a chorus of joyous tunes!

About the venue - The Green Room is a gorgeous event space with wonderful acoustics, a cozy vibe, plenty of room for the jammers and viewers, great drinks of all sorts (beer, wine, cocktails, non-alcoholic options) and awesome food. It is the former location of De Kleine Duivel, a Belgian beer hall. They host a Django jazz jam on Monday nights. For you long-term jammers, it evokes the best of Liam Flynn's and Five & Dime combined.

On the opposite Tuesdays, Alex Lacquement & Friends will lead the Baltimore Bluegrass Jam from 7-10pm for a jam featuring bluegrass songs and instrumentals. Come with a song or two to lead - or just show up and jam along.

Best of all, the jam is FREE! & open to all ages

Doors open at 6pm.
